Ghosts (remembering my father) (2006)
blocked 'doorway', two slide projections, emulsion paint, bedsheet, variable dimensions
Projected light gives the appearance of light pouring through the (non-existent) doorway. (see second image). When the viewer walks across the beam of the projector they discover, within their own shadow in the "doorway", a life-size hidden image of my my father carrying me as a child. (see first image). The hidden image can only be explored by moving around. This "memory" was created by a fainter projection from a higher, more oblique position.
Requires its own dark exhibition space.
